God Delights in You
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. - Psalm 37:23God hasn't forgotten you - and He isn't too busy for you. He doesn't think about you only when you come before Him in prayer, or attend church. No - God cares about you so much more than that! God loves you so much that he has worked out a plan for every detail of your life. He has directed your steps and, through His Holy Spirit, is showing you His plan for your life - a plan that covers every last detail of your existence - and delights God.

Hell
Posted by David and Sidharth on July 30, 2007 at 5:57 pm
Is Hell real? and if so - why does a loving God condemn people to Hell?
Yes, Hell is a place of torment and eternal separation from God. When you die you ultimately will be held responsible for your sin. You see, God is righteous and perfect - so sin can't get anywhere near him! When God made man he made us perfect so that we could be near him and live with him.
However, mankind invited sin into our lives when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. They followed the serpent into breaking Gods commandment by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Since then, death and punishment have been our reward for sin - on top of the fact that we now are separated from God. But "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16). God didn't want us to turn from him in the garden and even after that he still loves us. So God devised a plan that by sending his perfect and sinless son, Jesus, to die on the cross - our sins can be forgiven and we can have eternal life with God again. Jesus took the punishment for our sins.
People who turn down the free gift of salvation Jesus offers, have chosen to accept the penalty for sin themselves - and the penalty for our sins is hell. You see, God doesn't condemn people to hell - they choose it themselves. Despite all God does, people don't want to follow him or accept Jesus gift - they choose sin and God respects that choice.
"You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. - Matthew 7:13-14
Remember how short my life is,
how empty and futile this human existence!
No one can live forever; all will die.
No one can escape the power of the grave.
In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed.
For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell, in gloomy pits of darkness, where they are being held until the day of judgment. And God did not spare the ancient world-except for Noah and the seven others in his family. Noah warned the world of God's righteous judgment. So God protected Noah when he destroyed the world of ungodly people with a vast flood. - 2 Peter 2:3-5
The grave consumes sinners
just as drought and heat consume snow. - Job 24:19
Jesus said, "There was a certain rich man who was splendidly clothed in purple and fine linen and who lived each day in luxury. At his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus who was covered with sores. As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man's table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores.
"Finally, the poor man died and was carried by the angels to be with Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried, and his soul went to the place of the dead.[Greek to Hades] There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side.
"The rich man shouted, 'Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.'
"But Abraham said to him, 'Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish. And besides, there is a great chasm separating us. No one can cross over to you from here, and no one can cross over to us from there.'
"Then the rich man said, 'Please, Father Abraham, at least send him to my father's home. For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them so they don't end up in this place of torment.'
"But Abraham said, 'Moses and the prophets have warned them. Your brothers can read what they wrote.'
"The rich man replied, 'No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent to them from the dead, then they will repent of their sins and turn to God.'
"But Abraham said, 'If they won't listen to Moses and the prophets, they won't listen even if someone rises from the dead.'" - Luke 16:19-31
Words used for Hell
There are 3 Greek words that are translated as "hell" in the New Testament:
(1) Geheena which is the actual translation for "hell", which originates from the Hebrew word "Gehinnom" [Valley of Hinnom or Valley of son of Hinnom as mentioned in Jer 7:31, Jer 19:6, and Jer 32:35]. The valley of Hinnom was a place in Jerusalem where refuse was burned with unquenchable fire. This is a type and shadow of the Lake of fire or hell where those who reject Christ will be turned into.
(2) Hades [Hebrew: Sheol], which means grave, but on studying the Scriptures you find that Hades is more than just the grave. The Old Testament portrays this place as a place of torment, pain and agony. In fact the Psalm says that "the wicked shall be turned into Sheol". Hence, I come to believe that Hades/Sheol is a place of torment for the wicked, but then Hades is never considered as Hell in Greek. Moreover, Hades is a place of temporary torment, and not eternal torment.
(3) Tartaroo, the bible uses this word just once in 2 Peter 2:4 and it refers to a place where the fallen angels are held in chains.
Where do people go when they die?
There are just two destinies for every person on planet earth. Every man will face these factual realities. And their destiny is dependent on one great choice they make on earth: a "yes" or a "no" to Jesus.
Let’s see what happens to those who say "no" to Jesus:
Scripture tells us that these when they die, their material part [bodies] will go to dust where it came from, while their immaterial part [spirit and the soul] will be in a place that the Bible calls Hades [Greek] or Sheol [Hebrew]. The body is taken over by the enemy called "Death", while the real person [spirit and the soul] is tormented in Hades till the Day of Judgment. On the Day of Judgment, Death and Hades will give up that which is in them and the wicked will be judged according to their deeds.
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. - Revelation 20:13
However, for those who say "yes" to Jesus:
Though their bodies return to dust, Scripture clearly teaches that they [spirit and soul] will be with the Lord.
Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him.
When the Lord Jesus manifests Himself at His second coming He will bring the immaterial part of these people along with Him in the air and as their sleeping bodies raise up at the time of the "harpazo" [rapture], it re-unites with the immaterial part, While those of us who are alive at His coming will be caught up into the air. [1 Thess 4: 13-18]
How many Hells are there?
There is only one "Hell" or "Lake of Fire". However, there is another place called Hades [Greak] or Sheol [Hebrew] that people often call "Hell" by accident. Hell could be considered the second and final place of those that turn from God. Right now - and until Jesus returns - people who die without accepting Jesus go to Hades.
Will I get to party with my friends in Hell?
1) Not unless extreme darkness, pain, sorrow, and separation from everyone are your type of fun. Read Luke 16:19-31.
Is Hades/Sheol Eternal?
No, it only lasts until the end of the thousand-year reign with Christ. Then it is thrown into the Lake of Fire or Hell. So you can think of it as "out of the frying pan and into the fire".
And all were judged according to their deeds. Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire. - Revelation 20:13:15
Is the Lake of Fire eternal?
Yes, the Bible says that the lake of fire will last forever.
When the thousand years come to an end, Satan will be let out of his prison. He will go out to deceive the nations-called Gog and Magog-in every corner of the earth. He will gather them together for battle-a mighty army, as numberless as sand along the seashore. And I saw them as they went up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded God's people and the beloved city. But fire from heaven came down on the attacking armies and consumed them.
Then the devil, who had deceived them, was thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulfur, joining the beast and the false prophet. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. - Revelation 20:7-10
Verses about Hell
"You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell." - Matthew 5:21-22
"You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. - Matthew 7:13-14
"Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell. What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. - Matthew 10:28-29
Jesus replied, "You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven." - Matthew 16:17-19
Go ahead and finish what your ancestors started. Snakes! Sons of vipers! How will you escape the judgment of hell?
"Therefore, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers of religious law. But you will kill some by crucifixion, and you will flog others with whips in your synagogues, chasing them from city to city." - Matthew 23:32-34
"But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone hung around your neck. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one hand than to go into the unquenchable fires of hell with two hands. If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one foot than to be thrown into hell with two feet. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out. It’s better to enter the Kingdom of God with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, ‘where the maggots never die and the fire never goes out.’" - Mark 9:42-48
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
- Romans 8:37-39

Those who are wise must finally die,
just like the foolish and senseless,
leaving all their wealth behind.
The grave is their eternal home,
where they will stay forever.
They may name their estates after themselves,
but their fame will not last.
They will die, just like animals.
So my people will go into exile far away
because they do not know me.
Those who are great and honored will starve,
and the common people will die of thirst.
The grave is licking its lips in anticipation,
opening its mouth wide.
The great and the lowly
and all the drunken mob will be swallowed up.
Humanity will be destroyed, and people brought down;
even the arrogant will lower their eyes in humiliation.
Remember how short my life is,
how empty and futile this human existence!
No one can live forever; all will die.
No one can escape the power of the grave.
"My spirit is crushed,
and my life is nearly snuffed out.
The grave is ready to receive me."
- Job 17:1
I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds. Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. - Revelation 20:12-14
And he has given him authority to judge everyone because he is the Son of Man. Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment. - John 5:27-29

The Final Judgment
And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire. - Revelation 20:7-15
