God Delights in You
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. - Psalm 37:23God hasn't forgotten you - and He isn't too busy for you. He doesn't think about you only when you come before Him in prayer, or attend church. No - God cares about you so much more than that! God loves you so much that he has worked out a plan for every detail of your life. He has directed your steps and, through His Holy Spirit, is showing you His plan for your life - a plan that covers every last detail of your existence - and delights God.

Are We Tied Down?
Posted by David on October 2, 2007 at 11:24 am
If I were to ask you to come with me to the park to today to go witnessing - would you be able? Even more so, what about God? If He was to ask you to drop what you were doing and travel to some other country to deliver paper towels and Bibles - would you be able too? Honestly, I don't think that I could. While I would love to do that - I have a job (and you can't just walk out of them for a few weeks) and lots of web projects to work on. Plus gym memberships, soccer, bills, and all of the other stuff that we collect in life to keep us from being free to follow God.
Your in the Army Now
No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. - 2 Timothy 2:4
Soldiers don't spend all day running a business, trying to organize the belongings in their house, or watching TV. They spend their time in training and working for that time when they will be called into action. They don't entangle themselves in the affairs of everyday life, so there is nothing to hold them back from fulfilling their duty.
"Gee, I would like to come commander... but I have more important things to do. I have to clean up from the party last night and mow my yard, then I have football practice at 3PM, so I don't have time for training today... maybe tomorrow." Hmmm.... How useful will this solider be to the army? Because of his involvement in extra stuff he is held back from being used in the position he is put. While he should be training for battle he is cleaning his house. The time might come when he finds himself in a battle but lacks the training to know what to do because he "entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life".
Men and Women in the military try to please their commanders when they want to be selected for certain missions. They work hard at their training to show themselves capable of the mission they want. If we want to be used by God then we also need to show that we are capable and alert to the things God wants us to do.
Some people want God to use them, but they don't follow His commands and teachings. They want to do great things for God, but can't because they don't put into practice what God asks them to do. They don't seek God to remove the impurities in their life that can make them able to serve. How can God ask you to manage His church if you can't manage your own house? (1 timothy 3:4-5). What good are you to God's kingdom if you are always fighting with someone when you should be showing love? (1 john 4:20). God wants us all to be usable and shape-able so that he can use us in the highest possible way.
Follow the Rules
When a contestant enters a race - he doesn't tell the judges how he wants to run it. He listens to the rules they have established and follows their commands if he wants to receive the prize. If you are to be used by God then you must follow his commands and look to His Word to know what to do next.
Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules. - 2 Timothy 2:5
What are you made of?
Vessels that have taken in impurities can't be used for special occasions. Vessels that are lopsided, cracked, or contain dirt or other things mixed into there form aren't pure enough to be used for important events. These objects might have been damaged by their surrounding, or maybe they were too close to other types of material and got bits inside their own material when they where formed. These impurities have to be fixed and removed if the vessel is to be used for important jobs. (Ephesians 4:22-24)
Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor.
Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.
Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. - 2 Timothy 2:20-22
So the question remains, "Are we tied down?". Is our involvement with the things of this life keeping us from the calling God has for us? Furthermore, has our involvement with the world also added impurities to our lives that are keeping us from the use God wants to use us for? Please remember, that as a soldier - you're not called to be entangled in the world - your called to save it.
