God Delights in You

The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. - Psalm 37:23
God hasn't forgotten you - and He isn't too busy for you. He doesn't think about you only when you come before Him in prayer, or attend church. No - God cares about you so much more than that! God loves you so much that he has worked out a plan for every detail of your life. He has directed your steps and, through His Holy Spirit, is showing you His plan for your life - a plan that covers every last detail of your existence - and delights God.

No Purity Left

Posted by David on October 23, 2007 at 1:50 pm

To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed. - Titus 1:15-16

It seems that nothing describes the United States of America more than these two verses. As the world's symbol of a "Christian" nation - America fails horribly.  The USA is just about the most openly immoral nation in the world. Everyday we allow more and more detestable things to defile our minds. In other countries you might have a hard time finding the same things you can see here just walking through a shopping area. Seriously, what happened to the USA?

Thinking about some of the people I have met in college (actually about 1/3) it seems that their days contain plenty of examples of how open sin has become. Things like watching such great shows like "Sex in the City", "Desperate House Wives", "Girls gone Wild", "Adult Swim", and every "R" rated movie that comes out, going out drinking, eating at Hooters, and sleeping around. To them this is just life - "their conscience is defiled" and to them "nothing is pure". (Actually, I might have just named some things that you have done). Nevertheless, the point is that there is something seriously wrong with our culture. Even Muslims who would kill for Allah or crush a kids arm under a car find our immorality detestable. Personally, I agree with them.

Well, where are the Christians?

Well, the young guys are playing Halo or Grand Theft Auto (both Rated "Mature") at their friends house, and the teenage girls are trying to find a new boyfriend while studding the latest "sexy" style. I might have mistaken them for non-Christians if it weren't for their "Jesus is the Lord of my Life" T-Shirts. Now, I am not saying that all of the Christians are like this - but with 80% of our country claiming to be saved - we Christians most be supporting all this immorality or else it wouldn't stand a chance.

You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. What do you think the Scriptures mean when they say that the spirit God has placed within us is filled with envy? - James 4:2-5

I know that I am just as much to blame as anyone else. When I see a naked lady on a magazine in the front of Walmart I don't ever go complain to the manager. I buy the lie just like everyone else and think, "She isn't really naked because the way she is turned and holding her hands you can't actually see anything". Whoa!, wait a min, how am I supposed to stand before God and explain that one away?!

I think it all comes back to the old adage "garbage in, garbage out". When we align ourselves with the world we shouldn't be surprised when we can't stand up for what is right, let alone act any differently than the world. It's a problem because we seem to be kind-of "stuck" in a system here in the US. We grow up spending 8 hours a day in school learning about how we came from monkeys, why there are no absolute "rights", why we should be "tolerant" of all sin lifestyles, and how to have "safe sex". Then we come home to watch MTV and the Simpson's and wrap up the day with our friends at the latest topless movie to come from Hollyworld.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. - Philippians 4:8

That is the secret. If we ever want to change this country - we must ourselves be grounded in truth. Instead of watching the TV we should take some time to read God's word. We need to "renew our minds" with God's Word (Romans 12:1-2). Please remember than your worth more than what the world offers. You were made in God's image and he calls you to a holy life - not a trashcan life.

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." - John 8:12

Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.

But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. - Ephesians 2:1-5

Without Holiness

October 24, 2007 at 5:50 am

I agree totally....the only difference I see with Americans and Indians is that Americans do these sins in public and are not ashamed of it, while Indians do it all privately.

Christians are to blame for lowering the standards of holiness, and giving importance to things like "prosperity", and endless doctrinal arguments...

If you were to compile all the exhortations in the Bible, you'd find that the consistent message God has for the end-time generation is "Be diligent that you may be found spotless and without blemish on the day of the Lord". The Church needs to raise a banner of Holiness unto the Lord, for without it [holiness] no man shall see the face of the Lord [Hebrews 12:15]
