God Delights in You
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. - Psalm 37:23God hasn't forgotten you - and He isn't too busy for you. He doesn't think about you only when you come before Him in prayer, or attend church. No - God cares about you so much more than that! God loves you so much that he has worked out a plan for every detail of your life. He has directed your steps and, through His Holy Spirit, is showing you His plan for your life - a plan that covers every last detail of your existence - and delights God.

The Benefits to Fear
Posted by David on October 30, 2007 at 1:31 pm
I had never heard anything good about the horror genre until I read a post on Disciple 13 about the benefits of watching blood, gore, and fear-filled images. This of course caught my attention as I am always interested in learning something new that can help people. (Especially now that it is time for Halloween.)
Adam (The Author) says, "My point is that in fearing the boogie man, we learn to deal with fearing the real, day-to-day horrors that we face. Sure, if the credits roll and you can’t put the gore out of you mind, you won’t have created much of an escape for yourself. But if you can leave the book or the movie on the shelf when it’s all done, then there is real value in the ability of horror to so completely captivate, literally scaring our truest, deepest fears right out of us."
Adam is right - we need to stand against our fears. Because "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7) However, taking this approach to our fears kind of reminds me of the stories that Gospel for Asia and YWAM tell about tribal people who go to witch doctors when they need help battling and escaping demons - only to end up with more than before!
You see, I don’t think that is the way to handle our fear. It isn’t that we need to watch horror movies to "overcome" or be "strengthened" by our fears. If we are looking to, and relying on God we shouldn’t have any fears. "Greater is HE that is in me, than he who lives in the world" - 1 John 4:4.
He will not fear evil tidings;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is upheld, he will not fear...
I can honestly say that Horror movies are not something that God created or values as righteous. Therefore, that only leaves one place they can come from. And last time I checked, Satan never had anything worthwhile to offer me. It will be a cold day in Hell before my God isn’t big enough to handle my fear - and I have go to Satan for help.
"And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you." - Philippians 4:8-9
We need to remember to guard our minds (Proverbs 4:23) while we are in the world because what we see stays with us. What we watch influences our thoughts and sears our conscience (1 Timothy 4:1-2) to how bad sin really is.
abstain from every form of evil. - 1 Thessalonians 5:22
