God Delights in You
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. - Psalm 37:23God hasn't forgotten you - and He isn't too busy for you. He doesn't think about you only when you come before Him in prayer, or attend church. No - God cares about you so much more than that! God loves you so much that he has worked out a plan for every detail of your life. He has directed your steps and, through His Holy Spirit, is showing you His plan for your life - a plan that covers every last detail of your existence - and delights God.

Our Loss, For Our Gain
Posted by David on November 6, 2007 at 10:56 am
Philemon was having a bad day. His cows got out, new IRS bills came in the mail, and one of his slaves had run away. Now, even though Onesimus (the escaped slave) wasn't his best worker - he still cost alot! After all, you don't get new slaves everyday! It was just one of those days when you ask God, "why me?".
Like "Kronk", a friend of mine says, "You know, it doesn't always have to be about you". That is a point that is proven here. God says in his word, "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. - Romans 8:28 (NLT). While Philemon might have been upset about the lose of one of his slaves, God had bigger plans for Onesimus.
It turns out that it wasn't long afterward that Onesimus the slave, met Paul the apostle. And true to God's word, Onesimus escaping was used to the good of God's purpose. For after a little time with Paul, Onesimus accepted Jesus as his savior and started helping Paul in his work for God and others.
Soon after, Paul sent Onesimus back to Philemon with a letter asking Philemon to forgive Onesimus:
I appeal to you for my child Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my imprisonment, who formerly was useless to you, but now is useful both to you and to me. I have sent him back to you in person, that is, sending my very heart, whom I wished to keep with me, so that on your behalf he might minister to me in my imprisonment for the gospel; but without your consent I did not want to do anything, so that your goodness would not be, in effect, by compulsion but of your own free will. For perhaps he was for this reason separated from you for a while, that you would have him back forever, no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother, especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord. - Philemon 1:10-16
This is a great example of the fact that things you might lose in life, God will replace with even better. Even though Philemon thought He had lost something valuable - God had only interrupted Philemon's plans to do something even greater. The whole book of Job is an example of attacks from Satan that God ultimately used for the good of His purposes and Job's life.
Even though things may happen in life that go against our plans or cause hurt in our lives - we have God's promise that everything will be used for "the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them".
